Going Out of Business Sale

We will be closing the doors of Inman Quilt Cottage after over seven years of enjoying beautiful quilts and fabrics, making new friends and doing business in Inman.  We have so enjoyed our time spent with everyone who so loyally supported us and our closing is bittersweet.  Becky will love spending more time with her precious little grandson, Braden but will miss all the wonderful quilters who have shared their love of quilting and their talents with her! We will all remember with fondness the little butterscotch house filled with beautiful fabrics, classes and all the things quilters love. Thank you for your business and we hope we will see you again.

Come in for our closing sale and enjoy 30% off all books, notions, patterns and fabric with a one yard minimum. Again, again, thank you for your business.

Harvest Day Sale and New Seasonal Quilts

Join us this Saturday for Inman's annual Harvest Day celebration and save 20% on all books, notions, patterns and fabric on the bolt!  Also browse the crafts and food vendors, enjoy music and visit Inman shops in this day long celebration!

The new issue of Quilts and More has lots of easy, quick patterns including totes, drapes, candle mats, t-shirt quilts, seasonal pillows and more. Make sure to pick up this issue before it's gone!
Also, one of our favorite quilt designers, Kim Diehl, has a 2013 calendar fearuring twelve of her beautiful wall hangings and throws from her Simple books series.  We have some examples of Kim's quilts in the shop and her books.  Not only do they have gorgeous projects to make but they are also great coffee table books filled with homey, cozy photographs and truly beautiful quilts.
One of the quick projects Becky has been making lately are charm pack quilts.  This one made from Moda's Give Thanks line by Deb Strain was quick but so stylish for fall decorating.  It's hanging over the mantel in the shop.  These are also great for quick baby gifts, stadium throws and tailgating parties and for college dorm rooms.
And Gen made this cute quilt from the pattern Yule Dog by Su-Sun Designs in bright, cheerful holiday colors.  Someone special who loves dachshunds is getting this one for Christmsas! Shhhh . . . . it's got to be a surprise!

Holiday Quilts and Gift Ideas Galore!

As temps start to cool down from summer, fall and Halloween are right around the corner. One of our customers, Deb Spiers, put a new twist on the pattern Arnie by Bunny Hill Designs and used various Halloween fat quarters to make a cute seasonal wall hanging. And what's better for Halloween than cats a and mice?!  Come in and grab a Halloween fat quarter and create a cute wall hanging in a snap.

This Village Bag by Me and My Sister Designs was made using the Cocoon Metamorphosis fabric by Valerie Wells for Free Spirit. It's a perfect shoulder sling bag and the fabric transitions from summer to fall.
Another great carry-all bag and gift ideas are the Jelly Bag, pattern by Bunny Hill Designs and the Zippy Strippy by Atkinson Designs, both done in a muted batik line by Moda, Love Letter Batiks.  The Jelly Bag is a roomy, soft shoulder bag made with 2 1/2" strips and the Zippy Strippy also takes 2 1/2" strips and is a quilt-as-you-go bag with simple zipper.  Becky has the kits for them for $20 including the inside fabric, strips, pattern, zipper and star buttons by Buttons Galore & More.
As fall quickly approaches, not far behind are the Christmas holiday's.  Becky made this quick and easy San Francisco Window Boxes by Sweet Jane's using a fat quarter bundle of Holidays in Kashmir by Sentimental Studios for Moda. Simple squares and rectangles using these rich, luxurious fabrics create a stunning table topper, over the sofa throw or wall hanging.
Also, make a quick wall hanging from this panel by Timeless Treasures, Nature's Holiday.  Just add an inner and outer border, backing and quilt for your own home or a gift.

Shop Hop Quilt, Butterflies, Sunflowers and Dachshunds

We've been so busy preparing for our Carolina Shop Hop now in progress, we haven't had time to post updates! But we do have some gorgeous new fabrics and samples including this beautiful butterfly on black by Timeless Treasures, perfect for the hot summertime when butterflies are busy visiting our garden blooms.
And here is our finished Shop Hop quilt.  It's been a bit hit and though we sold out of our finishing kits the first day, Becky has ordered more fabric and is taking names of anyone who wants a kit when the batiks arrive.
Here is our block.  The theme this year, Fall n' Stars features star blocks in fall colored batiks which has been a big hit with veteran Shop Hoppers as well as first-timer's.

Also new is this beautiful, rich, lustrous line, Holiday in Kashmir by Sentimental Studios for Moda

And Gen Cox made this whimsical quilt with dachsunds in multi colors, Hot Diggity Dog! by Su-Sun Designs and we have the pattern in stock.

And with fall just around the corner, this line by Timeless Treasures features bright, vibrant sunflowers and autumn foliage on a black background.  The coordinates all have metallic gold highlights and the panel makes a perfect fall wall hanging.  So, stop by and see what's new and beat the heat by staying in with the air conditioning quilting!!!!  And, if you want to jump into the Carolina Shop Hop, it's not too late. It will be going through this Saturday!

Also just in are new buttons by Basicgrey. These cloth-covered 1/2-inch buttons are perfect embellishments for a pretty purse, renovated blouse or sweater, quilted wall hanging or altered art project.  We have aqua and green and shades of brown.

These luscious batiks from Moda are also just in.  The colors are like various flavors of sherbert--cool and soothing with the signature batik splashes of color and design.  Becky has created half-yard bundles or buy them by the yard for a stunning new project!

Strip Tubing Baby Quilt

Using the book Strip Tubing by Daniela Stout and Georgette Dell'Orco and Cozy Quilt Designs and the Strip Tubing ruler, we made the cutest baby quilt using the focus fabric Bubble Trubble by Studio e.   The concept is simple. For this colorful crib quilt, we sewed two coordinating 2 1/2" strips together and then sewed a 4 1/2" background strip, in this case, dots on white from the Grow With Me line by Moda, on both long ends to form a tube. Then, we placed the 5 1/2" seam line on the ruler on one of the seams of our tube and cut the triangle, flipped the ruler, placed the 5 1/2" line on the other seam which results in two mirror image triangles.  Then there are a multitude of ways to put them together.  We chose the 'Radiating Out' setting.  Becky quilted allover swirling loops and we had a quick and easy, colorful baby quilt!

New Books with Fresh Ideas and Projects

We have lots of new books in full of fresh ideas and projects and new twists on traditional designs.  Bed Runners & More by House of White Birches has nine different bed runners and pillow shams to change the look of your bedroom for the season or a new coat of paint without having to make a queen- or king-sized bed quilt.  From contemporary to traditional, there are runners and shams for every taste.
Back to Charm  School, More Fun Quilts from Country Threads by Marie Etherington and Connie Tesene, is chocked full of small projects using 5" Charm Squares.  There are table runners, wall hangings, pillows, crib and lap quilts in this gotta-have book from country charm to whimsical.
Carrie L. Nelson and her dog, Miss Rosie, have a new book, A Touch of Rose Quilts featuring 14 designs with Carrie's signature spin on the traditional quilt block and settings.  She always serves up easy to follow, simple construction sequences and illustrations resulting in cozy quilts with a complicated look.  Her quilts are some of our favorites.
Asymmetrical Quilts by Phyllis Dobbs features nine off-center designs for throws and wall hangings with whimsical and 'a twist on traditional' looks.
Learn the art of reverse hand applique by cutting away the fabric on top to reveal jewel-toned beauties underneath in this fabulous book by Teri Henderson Tope.  Look at hand applique from a different perspective with stunning results.

Another Season of Beautiful Blooms by Susan Taylor Propst takes the beauty of flowers from daisies to poinsettias and combines them with bright, vivid fabrics and hand applique to create gorgeous pillows and wall hangings. These would make lovely projects for your home or gifts for family and friends.  The book is a delight to peruse and the projects and well worth the time and effort of hand applique.
