Preparing for The 2011 Carolina Shop Hop!!!

Our Civil War block for this year's Carolina Shop Hop, July 8th through 16th, Mending the Past, is the Kansas Troubles block.  Southern Senators did not want the territory of Kansas added to the Union and walked out of the Capitol in protest. However, Kansas was added to the Union January 29th, 1861.  This block was named Kansas Troubles for that contentious time surrounding Kansas' induction into the United States.  You can read more about this block and other Civil War blocks and how they got their names on Barbara Brackman's Civil War Quilts blog,  http://civilwarquilts.blogspot.com/.  You can also find the link to her blog in our links sidebar.

We hope you will join in the fun of the Shop Hop this year and visit all 13 shops participating.  Visit the website, Carolina Shop Hop, also on our links sidebar for maps, directions and new information as it is posted.  And remember that each shop will have a different Civil War block kit and a different finished quilt with directions to choose from.  This year, we're mending the past and uniting together to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.
